What’s Your Favorite Yugioh Monster Card Type?

In the beginning of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, there were only three types of monsters: Effect, Normal, and Fusion. Later, Yugioh added Spirit, Gemini, and Synchro monsters to their card stock. Each of them have their strong points and weak points but which of them are your favorite? The powerful normal monsters, the strong but hard to play fusion monsters, the witty effect monsters, the strategic Gemini monsters, the abstract Spirit monsters, or the new Synchro monsters? There is a big competition between all six types of monsters. However, which one is the strongest, one may ask.

I am going to rule out Normal monsters right away because they have no effect, so are pretty much useless unless they are used in combos. Fusion monsters are strong, but they are difficult play due to having to assemble fusion material monsters and Polymerization or a fusion spell. So I will rule them out as well. We are left with Effect monsters, Spirit, Gemini, and Synchro. Though Spirit Monsters are powerful, they have to be returned to the owner’s hand by the end of the turn and cannot be special summoned. So that caps their potential capabilities.

Synchro monsters, Effect monsters, and Gemini monsters the only ones remaining. Though they are very powerful, I will have to take of Synchro monsters from the list. They have good stats and good effects however they need to be summoned by a tuner, and sometimes the tuner is specific. Also, the tuned monster is mainly specific (for example: To synchro summon Turbo Cannon you need a Turbo Warrior). So Synchro monsters are off the list.

I think that Gemini monsters and Effect monsters recieve a tie because they are both very similiar. Gemini monsters are just like Effect monsters except they “acsess” their effects once they get normal summoned from the field. Effect/Gemini monsters are good because not only do they have good-really good stats, they also have good effects which are really effective (get the pun) during a close situation.

you forgot to add ritual monsters to that list…

spirit and gemini monsters are actually a sub-type of effect monster, just like toon and union monsters.

I personally like effect monsters best. other types of cards all have one drawback or another. effect monsters, I can’t really find any drawbacks except for their individual effects.

On what site can we play Yugioh online? and when is the next card competition?

  3. You have to buy Yugioh online. The next card competition will be early November.

  4. Well, the reason I put off ritual monsters is because they are a fading group. Spirit and Gemini are an effect sub-type however they have unique abilities which makes them a little different from effect monsters.

In my opinion Ritual monsters are the best Monster card type. I like them mainly because of Relinquished. I see it as one of the strongest monsters in YuGiOh up to date. Rituals never achieved higher places because there was almost no support for them. With the upcoming cards to support them in Stardust Overdrive, I hope that Rituals come into scene again.

  6. Good point. I apologize for not writing about them in that post because as you said, they never really achieved a high place among other monsters.

i think fusion monsters are the best cause they hv an effect sometimes, the fusion monsters which i like the most are, cyber end dragon, five headed dragon, dragon master knight, dark paladin, blue eyes ultimate. i kno blue eyes has not got an effect but it withstands atk as well as def. my fav card in the game is cyber end dragon.
ritual monsters are good too, they are interesting and not tooooo common, hope theyll get a higher place in monsters. gemini and spirit are too… protective of themselves, they kinda get into my game, few are excellent though

  8. morfowt says:

well if you’re gonna go by effect, effect monsters have an effect ALL THE TIME…

  9. yugioh pwnzzz says:

they are supposed to hv an effect, fusion monsters arent, thats one of the flaws. effect monsters also hv bad effects only, eg-

    rare metal dragon
    level 4
    2400/1200
effect- this card cannot be normal summoned or set

go figure, its a level 4, supposed to be a tribute… there are also some bad fusion mosters as well, eg- flame swordsman

  10. morfowt says:

well with stats like that, of course it’s going to have a negative effect. otherwise it’d be too overpowering.

and who says fusion monsters aren’t supposed to have an effect. maybe early in the game (like back when an average lv 4 monster’s attack was 1200) they weren’t, but any modern fusion monster always has an effect.

anyway, needing polymerization is a huge drawback of fusion monsters, so at the very least, I’d say synchro monsters are better than fusion monsters.

  11. yugioh pwnzzz says:

needing polymerization is a drawback. but even synchro monsters have a drawback, needing a tuner, they are pretty rare, nd i dont like 5ds so much, in fact i hate it, i like normal and gx, fusion monsters are interesting nd hv better effects than synchros (usually) anyway, i sed in my 1st post that its mainly coz of cyber end dragon, blue eyes, fgd and stuff like that

  12. Yugioh fan says:

um the fact that you hate 5ds is ruining your jugment

  13. morfowt says:

polymerization is one out of a million cards. and you can only have up to 3 in a deck. there are a lot more tuner monsters in the world. fusion monsters also usually need specific monsters to fuse. synchro monsters, however, rarely need a specific monsters. they usually need a specific archetype, type, or attribute, but not a specific monster.

also, I don’t know how you can tell fusion monsters usually have better effects. the number of fusion monsters with effects and the number of synchro monsters with effects is so big, I wouldn’t know where to begin counting…

cyber end dragon, fgd, and blue-eyes are just 3 out of hundreds of fusion monsters. they can’t represent all fusion monsters.

  14. I never said I hated it, it’s just not as good as GX or the original Yu-Gi-Oh!

I think morfowt was talking to yugioh pwnzz, blogger. And 5D’s is so much better than GX..in japanese atleast, I dont watch the english ones
and yes synchro > fusion. there are so many overpowered synchros that are banned/limited, i cant think of one fusion that is too.
