Card of the week 6/27/10: Gagagigo

Yu-Gi-Oh-GagagigoGagagigo may be an old and forgotten monster, but it was the basis of one of my most popular contests in my blog. Though it doesn’t have an effect, Gagagigo still has 1850 attack so it’s pretty useful in some decks, especially reptilian decks. Gagagigo’s younger self, Gigobyte is one of the best cards to have in a Gravity deck. Because it’s a level one monster, it can be affected by Triangle Power thus making it a powerhouse in a Gravity deck. Gagagigo also has older forms known as Giga Gagagigo and Gogiga Gagagigo. Though it might not have a high efficiency rate, it has a lot of history and is a very significant Yugioh monster.

The three card of the weeks have been selected! Gagagigo, Non Aggression Area, and Cosmic Fortress Gol’gar. Out of these three cards, vote for which one you think deserves to be the card of the month!

uh, personally I’d rather have monsters like muka muka or raging flame sprite in a gravity deck…

  2. Chris Harbour says:

Card trooper in gravity deck. Have you guys heard about a deck type called ” high monster beat”?

  3. morfowt says:

    no. could you explain it?

  4. Chris Harbour says:

Yes. It’s a rising deck that is gaining a load of momentum. Basically it utilizes about 38 monsters, 2 magics (heavy storm, and giant trunade). The monsters have milling ability and high attack strength and incredibly easy summon requirements. Monsters such as dark creator, dark simorgh, darklord zerato, archlord krystya, (some HMB decks use guardian eatos), also the utilize card trooper and gallis for maximum monster dump which isn’t excluding dark grepher either. Basically the deck focuses on a straight up high monster attack beatdown.
This is surprisingly a strong deck even in the absense of magic/trap support. (possibly a contender for nationals this year). I can guarantee that 10-15% of duelist heading to nationals this year will be playing this deck.

  5. Javier says:

That is a very interesting deck type. I have a deck symilar to that. It consists on getting out monsters with really high attack and low defense, it runs many staple cards like sakuretsu armor and trap hole, giving this deck a great chance to leave the opponents field open for some heavy damage.

  6. morfowt says:

cool. I’ve always wanted to see just how far that 1-to-1 ratio for monster to spell and traps could stretch. I’ve made a deck that’s kind of the opposite. almost all traps, and barely any spells or monsters. uses continuous traps to stall, slightly damage, and lock the opponent, while imperial custom and fake trap protect the continuous traps from destruction, and sending the continuou traps to the graveyard at my own leisure through magic planter, scrubbed raid, or not paying the maintenance cost. then summon uria and attack for game. doubt it’s any good for nationals though. it’s only good enough to beat the average player every now and then, and my standards of “average” are most likely a lot lower than yours…

  7. Chaos Necromancer, that sorta stuff. By the way, you won the Story Contest.

  8. morfowt says:

I won? oh ok… I don’t really want the card so I guess I’ll just post my deck online for tips. which deck should I post? I can’t decide between my empty jar deck, my tempest magician burn deck, and my blackwing-exodia deck.

blackwing-exodia uses the blackwing’s swarming to thin the deck and their DARK attribute to draw cards. Most creative of the 3 but slow speed. impossible to otk though unless all 5 pieces of exodia were drawn at the start of the duel (well actually that’d be a ntk).

tempest magician uses magical citadel and drawing spells to accumulate a lot of spell counters. then synchro summon tempest magician and use her burn effect. fastest of the 3 and theoretically possible to otk. however, if you don’t get the right hand it’s incredibly weak and vulnerable

empty jar uses flip effect monsters like morphing jar and needle worm to mill your opponents deck a lot and spear cretin and the shallow grave to reuse their effects. medium speed and pretty high success rate. can’t really otk though

so which do you guys think I should post?

  9. Chris Harbour says:

Um none look great. I guess the mill deck

  10. Chris Harbour says:

Javier: that deck would be considered a beat down deck. Those particular style decks aren’t what they were like back in ’04

  11. morfowt says:

nope, sorry I don’t really make great decks. I make decks that are different from what most people play. so that’s one for empty jar. anybody else?

  12. Write about the Blackwing-Exodia, seems like an interesting deck.

  13. fghjk77 says:

    Blackwing-Exodia in my opinion

  14. morfowt says:

I recently also made a new quickdraw synchro deck. Uses imperial iron wall and burial from a different dimension to reuse quillbolt hedgehog, plaguespreader zombie, and battle fader. Swarms using quickdraw synchron, junk synchron, synchron explorer, and inferno reckless summon. Tuningware and darksea rescue provide draw power. Has massive swarm power compared to the other three. Still have yet to test duel it though… just thought I’d put it out there in case any of you prefer this to the other three.

  15. morfowt says:

so that’s 2 for blackwing-exodia and 1 for empty jar so far unless any of you change your mind. I’ll post the decklist before I leave day after tomorrow. you have until then to change your mind. the rest of you have until then to vote.

  16. Javier says:

Dark Magician decks should come back in style, I recently made one, and it has beaten some of the popular decks these days, including blackwings, and frogmonarchs. I am a fan of playing with old school stuff in a way to prove that you don’t need cards like Infernities or lightsworns to win a match.

  17. Chris Harbour says:

    Dark magician decks? Lol

  18. morfowt says:

wow…I just did my first otk in my first match using that synchron deck, using imperial iron wall, plaguespreader zombie, and quillbolt hedgehog…

  19. Javier says:

@Morfowt Congratulations! I have a friend who has a Quillbolt Loop OTK deck like you do. It beat me 3 times. Do you use the card Krebons?

  20. nader says:

hello everybody! i just got back from a wonderful vacation. i didnt have time to make a card story so i will just make it short and simple. a beautiful woman was bitten by a poisonous viper. she transformed into a snake. she was still beautiful for a snake. she has nice eyes and hair. shes one heck of a force to be wreckened with (does this make sense?) her name starts with a v. she makes sdam look like a pigeon. (to never be continued)

  21. nader says:

  22. card lover says:

  23. card lover says:
