End of Yugioh 5Ds Marks the Start of Yugioh Zexal

Episode 154 of Yugioh 5Ds marked the last 5Ds episode and it was possibly one of the best episodes of the series. In episode 154, also known as Shining Forth to the Future, the main characters all part ways and it shows how they are all doing in the future. It emphasizes friendship and bondage so it was a very sentimental yet feel-good episode. Now that Yugioh 5Ds is over, Konami is making a new series, Yugio Zexal. The first episode was released a few days ago and to tell you the truth, it didn’t look very good.

Yugioh Zexal revolves around a boy named Yuma who unlocks some sort of spirit from his dream world that helps him duel, similar to Yubel who later acts as an aid to Jaden. The show also introduces a new type of monsters known as exceed monsters; all of them are pretty easy to summon and some of them have stellar effects. Despite this introduction, Zexal looks pretty boring and the storyline is kind of repeating that of Yugioh and Yugioh 5Ds, where the duelists duel with some sort of spirit.

Though I criticized Yugioh 5Ds, which I enjoyed later or, when it was released, Yugioh Zexal just looks stupid. The characters look very hollow and there doesn’t seem to be an intense rivalry. Yes, there is a boy named Shark that Yuma forms a rivalry with but it just doesn’t seem nearly as intense as the rivalry between Yugi-Kaiba, Jaden-Zane, or Yusei-Jack.

  1. i agree, it looks like they made this for much much younger audiences. and also no hot girls? smh..

  2. I kinda liked it. Besides this is the FIRST episode, give it time. I’ll probably get better.

  3. Will there be any particular sacred cards in zexal? I think so, because there were alot in the original, gx, and 5ds.

  4. @nader

There probably will be sacred cards. I’ve heard rumors that No.97, No.98, and No.99 are all going to be “legendary” exceed monsters. Maybe they will be sacred as well? Yeah, and duel runner is my favorite as well. The d-gazer just seems to be high-tech 3D goggles haha!

  5. Yugiohblogger, i am wondering, who is your favorite monster from all of the yugioh anime? Mine would have to be the Great Leviathan. That monster is freaking HUGE! It is so cool and evil looking.

  6. @nader

I don’t know. There were a lot of cool monsters. Diabound Curnel (Bakura’s key monster from the Egypt arch) was a beast because no matter who he fought (Obelisk, Dark Magician, etc…) he NEVER lost!

  7. Zexal doesn’t seem anywhere near as good as 5ds , gx or te original. Like he said it’s a copied plot and the main character is a little pip-squeak and lick sacks more than yugi .-. To bad it whent from 5ds to this . The show needs a serious pick up =o

    “I
Somebody agrees with me! I just do not feel that intensity in Yugioh Zexal. Yugioh 5Ds and the original always had that “I’m here to beat you” aura coming from a duel. I will say however that GX was the same way when it started, silly and goofy, but in the Yubel plot line, it started getting intense as well!

  9. I watched the whole first season on a website called toonzaki.com it is terrible. Plain and simple it’s terrible. I like the whole number cards though. I even have like 20. But also Yuma kinda sounds like Michael Jackson. ( I know I must be stupid but I hear a likeness)
