Sacred Yugioh Cards

Yugioh, Yugioh GX, and Yugioh 5Ds all had their forms of sacred Yugioh monsters. There were the legendary God cards in Yugioh; the Sacred Beasts in GX, and the Earthbound Immortals in 5Ds. Though Yugioh Zexal just began, I am sure it will continue the trend of having a group of sacred monsters. Today, I’ll talk about which group of legendary monsters were my favorite, and what I expect Yugioh Zexal to come out with.

1. The Egyptian God Cards – Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, The Winged Dragon of Ra

Sure they were virtually indestructible in the anime and every time they would appear, there would be epic music, flames, lightning bolts, etc… However, their real life versions aren’t nearly as good, and the playable of version of Slifer the Sky Dragon hasn’t even been released yet. So, while they were awesome in the anime, they are not really used by many duelists and serve as antiques more than anything. The original versions were abysmal, as they couldn’t even be used…

2. The Sacred Beasts – Uria, Lord of Searing Flames; Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder; Raviel, Lord of Phantasms

I would say the Sacred Beasts are my favorite legendary beast archetype because they can be useful in many ways. You can specifically make a deck revolving around them, or you can use them in other decks (i.e. Raviel can be great in Yubel decks). Their effects are on par, if not even better than that of the Sacred Beasts and finally, their artwork is epic!

3. Earthbound Immortals – Aslla Piscu, Ccapac Apu, Ccarayhua, Chacu Challua, Cusillu, Uru, Wiraqocha Rasca

They’re not my favorite, but I still like the Earthbound Immortals because they are flexible monsters. For one, you can make several decks revolved around each Earthbound Immortal. Or you can make one deck revolving around all the Earthbound Immortals with cards like Hundred Eyes Dragon, which if made well, can be a very powerful deck. The artwork for the Earthbound Immortals are pretty nice to, so overall, I’d say they are a pretty good archetype.

Those are the three current legendary beast archetypes. Yugioh Zexal’s sacred monsters will probably be exceed monsters and I have a feeling they will revolve around science and/or technology. The reason why is because Zexal is set in the deep future and some of the upcoming powerhouse monsters (Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Thunder-End Dragon, etc…) are constructed that way.

  1. Aren’t the Legendary Dragons, Orichalcos, Machine Emperors, and Temporal Machines also considered sacred?

  2. @nader

They probably are, but I think he was getting at the fact that these cards were a nitch for the majority of their respective series. you hear a mention of each archetype in practically half the episodes of the series outside of their actual arcs.

  3. @nader

Maybe, but like Rocket said, Sacred Beasts, the Egyptian God Cards, and the Immortals were the most sacred group of monsters in their respective show.

  4. Did you guys know that there is a card in the anime called Chaos End Ruler – Ruler of the Beginning and the End? Here it is:

    Level 10
    LIGHT
    Warrior/Effect
    ATK/DEF 3500/2000

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. You can banish 1 LIGHT Warrior-Type and 1 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your hand. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this card’s Special Summon. You can pay 1000 Life Points; banish all cards in your opponent’s hand, on your opponent’s side of the field, and in your opponent’s Graveyard, and inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each card banished by this effect.

  5. That is one powerful card, unfortunately, if it does become a real card, It’ll def go the way of its predecessors, straight to the Forbidden List.

  6. Maybe, but like Rocket said, Sacred Beasts, the Egyptian God Cards, and the Immortals were the most sacred group of monsters in their respective show.

    @yugiohblogger

Yes, i they were very sacred, but lets consider the others. the meklords took up nearly one whole season. same with oracalcos and legendary dragons/knights. lets just face up to the fact cw4krap tv just makes anything sacred

  7. This is a awesome blog. When I first started yugioh I got all 3 egyptian god cards in my first day. (keep in mind I was 6 so I loved to waste my money on stuff I see) and my friend they where junk and traded me only a dark magician and told me I was getting the better deal. Then a few years
I got a like 3 earthbound emmortals in like 8 packs and he tried to trade only 1 stardust dragon for it (I wasn’t stupid so I didn’t take the deal. Then I defeated and won my god cards back even after all those years. He was good about and didn’t even ask for the dark magican back. Guess he forgot.)
