I have been a huge fan of Yugioh World Championship games ever since it was released for the Nintendo DS. I was enthralled by Stardust Accelerator when it was released in 2009. I was awed with its duel-runner capabilities and held the game series with high regard. With a awesome storyline and phenomenal gameplay, last year’s Over the Nexus increased my liking for the World Championship series. Though it hasn’t been released yet, I have high expectations of the upcoming 2012 World Championship game, Beginning the New Number.
Beginning the New Number is supposed to cover the beginning of Yugioh Zexal till the finale of the World Duel Carnival. The gameplay and graphics should be similar to Over the Nexus. However, Beginning the New Number should have a special type of cut-scene when a number is summoned. This would help differentiate the game from past Yugioh World Championship games. Another cool feature the game’s storyline could have is duel bots, which actually exist in Yugioh Zexal. Duel bots should be scattered throughout the map so that duelists would have a chance to prepare before heading off to a new level.
The thing that excites me the most is that Beginning the New Number will have all of the booster packs up to Rising Abyss. That means both Utopia Ray and Shark Drake Vice will be playable monsters. Speaking of monsters, I expect Konami to have some Xyz monsters be playable opponents. Normal Xyz such as Leviathan Dragon and Galaxy Queen would be formidable opponents and there would be extremely tough numbers such as Neo Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon and Utopia Ray.
In any case, Beginning the New Number seems like it will be a great game. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get to create our own number monster as well. On top of that, it is being released for the Nintendo 3Ds, which means it will contain 3D graphics! This will be one of the coolest Yugioh games ever released.
