Throughout the four generations of the Yugioh series, we have seen a lot of powerful duelists – from heroes to villains. When most people think of the strongest duelist in Yugioh, they think of the Pharaoh/Yugi. However there are a lot of other duelists one must consider when discussing the strongest duelist in Yugioh. There is also Jaden, Yusei, Kaiba, Kite, etc… Starting from this post, I will list the top 10 strongest duelists in Yugioh and their merit for being chosen.
10. Rex Goodwin
It took three duelists to barely take down Rex Goodwin. With his almost unstoppable Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca, Goodwin easily took out Jack and Crow before Yusei finally finished him off. Goodwin was a duelist who relied heavily on suffocating offense and there are not a lot of duelists that could beat him one-on-one.
9. Jack Atlas
The reincarnation of Kaiba, Jack Atlas used ruthless offensive tactics to beat down his opponents. Though he was beaten by Goodwin in the first season of Yugioh 5Ds, he improved a lot throughout the show and unlocked the mighty Red Nova Dragon. Unless you have a some good defensive tactics, forget about trying to take out ‘The King’, Jack Atlas.
8. Yuma Tsukumo
In the beginning of Yugioh Zexal, Yuma was a scrub duelist: he didn’t know how to use his cards and couldn’t mesh with Astral. However, as the series prolongs, Astral has been an astounding influence on Yuma and together, the two can outsmart and beat strong duelists. One of the most unpredictable duelists in Yugioh, you need to be ready for anything if you want a chance to beat Yuma and Astral.
7. Joey Wheeler
My favorite character in the Yugioh franchise is also one of the strongest duelists ever. Like Yuma, Joey is also very unpredictable and uses various tactics to stymie is opponents. His duel intelligence may belie his appearance, but that skill allows him to come up with miraculous strategies. You have to be on your feet when dueling Joey.
6. Marik Ishtar
One of the most fearsome duelists in Yugioh, period. Marik pushed Yugi to his limits in the battle city tournament. Though he has a brutal personality, Marik is more of a defensive duelist. He uses slow, but effective tactics to wear out his opponent, finally finishing them with his Winged Dragon of Ra. The best way to beat Marik would be to force to go on the offensive and hope he gets careless.
