If you have been following Yugioh Zexal, then you have seen the epic duel between Yuma and III, who used a Chronomaly deck. Though III lost that duel, the awesomeness and destructiveness of Chronomaly monsters were on full display. Known as OOpArts in the OCG, Chronomaly is an archetype that focuses on swarming Xyz monsters. They are making their TCG debut in the upcoming booster pack Return of the Duelist. The Chronomaly archetype may not have a lot of support as of now, but they have two extremely powerful Number Xyz monsters as their base and are sure to be a threat in the near future.
An interesting fact about Chronomaly monsters is that they are based off the artifacts of other cultures. For instance, the first of the monsters I mentioned is based off Ica stones (essentially stones with pictures) from ancient Peruvian civilization. Cool huh? But makes Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech even cooler is its ridiculous power. With 2400 attack and 1500 defense points, Machu Mech may not seem that strong, but its effect gives it a lot more power. By discarding a material monster (two, level five), you cantarget one face-up monster your opponent controls and inflict life points equal to the difference between its current attack and original attack. Then, Machu Mech gains that total in terms of its attack points. Heavy equip card users, watch out!
The second monster I mentioned above, who is the stronger of the two, is based off the the titan Atlas! A monster that is the recreation of a titan? You know it’s got to be pretty powerful! And alas, with its 2600 attack and 3000 defense points, Number 6: Chronomaly Atlando will be one of the best Xyz monsters in Yugioh. Its effect is also tremendous: when it is summoned, Atlando can equip one Number Xyz monster on to itself and gain attack points equal to half the attack of the equipped monster. In addition, Atlando can discard one Xyz monster (two, level six) and its equipped monster to cut the opponent’s life points by half. A purely epic monster, to say the least.
Chronomaly monsters will be so fun to play with, especially since they have two powerful Xyz monsters in their arsenal. Since this archetype specializes in Xyz summoning, it is possible to include many Xyz monsters in a Chronomaly deck; you don’t have to be limited to just Chronomaly monsters.
