You probably don’t like to spend a lot of money on Yugioh cards, but there are certain strong Yugioh cards that are also fairly cheap.

Shooting Quasar Dragon is one of the strongest synchro monsters in Yugioh and is Yusei’s strongest monster.

Top Extra Deck Monsters

It is important to have a strong extra deck and these are some powerful monsters to have in your extra deck.

In the show, the Aesir monsters Loki, Thor, and Odin were ridiculously powerful, as they almost defeated Yusei! How powerful would a deck of these monsters be?

Upcoming Booster Pack – Generation Force

There are lots of reasons to anticipate the arrival of Generation Force, the booster pack that has all duelists talking. There is of course, a new genre of monsters being released, known as Xyz monsters. However, there are several other reasons to be excited about Generation Force. For one, all duelists can relax for synchro monsters are still being manufactured; in fact Generation Force has very powerful syncrhos. Also, Generation Force will introduce several new archetypes and some of them have the potential to be top-tier. Here are three things that I have been the most enthusiastic about regarding the release of Generation Force:

1. Pain Painter – Tuner

Pain Painter is going to be overused in a zombie deck. It is a level two tuner, that’s name can be treated as Plaguespreader (allowing it to synchro summon monsters with Plaguespreader Zombie as a requirement). Its strongest effect is this though: it can make two zombie monsters on your side of the field level two monsters. It might seem like a simple effect, but, Pain Painter makes it so much easier to play Archfiend Zombie Skull. With 2500 attack points, AZS is an ace zombie synchro monster that makes sure faceup zombie monsters are not destroyed by card effects!

2. Steelswarm

The Steelswarm archetype has the potential to be one of the strongest archetypes in Yugioh. Steelswarm monsters take advantage of tribute summoning with their swarming capabilities. However, the Steelswarms monsters that are tribute summoned get powerful effects that can devastate opponents. For instance, Steelswarm Caller allows you to special summon a level four or lower Steelswarm monster when you tribute summon one. This swarming effect allows you to quickly tribute summon Steelswarm monsters. They are going to be a mighty deck, especially because they already have a good amount of support cards.

3. Number 39: Utopia

Okay, I love collecting duelists ace monsters (as I already have Dark Magician, Elemental Hero Neos, and Stardust Dragon) and Utopia will be an add-on to the list. Its a powerful monster that can be very easily summoned (have two level four monsters) and it can remove a Xyz material monster to negate an attack. So, it is fairly powerful as well.

Sacred Yugioh Cards

Yugioh, Yugioh GX, and Yugioh 5Ds all had their forms of sacred Yugioh monsters. There were the legendary God cards in Yugioh; the Sacred Beasts in GX, and the Earthbound Immortals in 5Ds. Though Yugioh Zexal just began, I am sure it will continue the trend of having a group of sacred monsters. Today, I’ll talk about which group of legendary monsters were my favorite, and what I expect Yugioh Zexal to come out with.

1. The Egyptian God Cards – Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, The Winged Dragon of Ra

Sure they were virtually indestructible in the anime and every time they would appear, there would be epic music, flames, lightning bolts, etc… However, their real life versions aren’t nearly as good, and the playable of version of Slifer the Sky Dragon hasn’t even been released yet. So, while they were awesome in the anime, they are not really used by many duelists and serve as antiques more than anything. The original versions were abysmal, as they couldn’t even be used…

2. The Sacred Beasts – Uria, Lord of Searing Flames; Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder; Raviel, Lord of Phantasms

I would say the Sacred Beasts are my favorite legendary beast archetype because they can be useful in many ways. You can specifically make a deck revolving around them, or you can use them in other decks (i.e. Raviel can be great in Yubel decks). Their effects are on par, if not even better than that of the Sacred Beasts and finally, their artwork is epic!

3. Earthbound Immortals – Aslla Piscu, Ccapac Apu, Ccarayhua, Chacu Challua, Cusillu, Uru, Wiraqocha Rasca

They’re not my favorite, but I still like the Earthbound Immortals because they are flexible monsters. For one, you can make several decks revolved around each Earthbound Immortal. Or you can make one deck revolving around all the Earthbound Immortals with cards like Hundred Eyes Dragon, which if made well, can be a very powerful deck. The artwork for the Earthbound Immortals are pretty nice to, so overall, I’d say they are a pretty good archetype.

Those are the three current legendary beast archetypes. Yugioh Zexal’s sacred monsters will probably be exceed monsters and I have a feeling they will revolve around science and/or technology. The reason why is because Zexal is set in the deep future and some of the upcoming powerhouse monsters (Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Thunder-End Dragon, etc…) are constructed that way.

New Yugioh Exceed Monsters

We have already talked about several exceed monsters (most notably Utopia and Leviath Dragon ) whether in certain posts or comments. As more episodes of Yugioh Zexal are being created, naturally, more exceed monsters have been airing as well. Most of them are number monsters and some are regular exceed monsters. I’ll go through a list of the three major exceed monsters that have aired on the show so far.

1. Baby Tragon

Not only is Baby Dragon a wickedly cute monster, it has a wicked effect that can really hurt you if you are not careful. You can discard one of Baby Tragon’s three exceed material monsters to give a monster on your side of the field the ability to attack directly! This effect can be crucial in late game situations. The only problem with Baby Tragon is that it can be a little difficult to bring out since it requires three exceed material monsters to be summoned.

2. Number 34. Electronic Computer – Beast Tera Byte

Though it has 0 attack, ECBTB has a whopping 2900 defense and as result, it should serve as a wall to your life points. Plus, by removing one of its exceed material monsters, once per turn it can take control of one of one your opponent’s level four or lower attack position monster. You can make a pretty devastating monster control deck with ECBTB serving as the ace card.

3. No. 83 Galaxy Queen

Like Baby Tragon, Galaxy Queen can be a little bit tricky to play since it requires three level one monsters. However, its epic effect makes playing Galaxy Queen worth the work. By removing one of its exceed material monsters, Galaxy Queen makes sure all of your monsters cannot be destroyed by battle until the end of your opponent’s turn. Plus, your monsters gain the ability to inflict piercing battle damage as well.

Change in Yugioh Zexal Terminology

There was abound to be some change between the terminology used in the Japanese version of Yugioh Zexal compared to the American version. Here are some of the crucial changes:

Exceed Monsters are now Xyz monsters and overlay units (or exceed material monsters) are known as Xyz material monsters.
No.39 Aspiring Emperor Hope has become No.39 Utopia (I have no idea why).
No.17 Revise Dragon has become No.17 Leviath Dragon.

New Booster Pack: Extreme Victory

Following the release of the Nordic Gods in the booster pack Storm of Ragnarok, the booster pack Extreme Victory that was released yesterday in TCG has lived well up to expectations. Though its cover monster, Junk Beserker, is not the strongest of monsters, the release of Antinomy’s cool Tech Genus cards make Extreme Victory one of the most exciting booster packs in the series. Let’s not forget that this pack also debuts Life Stream Dragon, a.k.a the “6th dragon”, as well as Aporia’s beast Meklord Astro Dragon Asterisk.

The Tech Genus monsters are really powerful when played correctly, as you can tell from the way that Antinomy really beat down Yusei when they dueled. Though not all of the Tech Genus monsters and support cards have been released in this pack, this archetype still has the potential really strong. The two crucial monsters that were released in this pack were the accel synchro monster T.G. Blade Blaster and the delta accel synchro monster T.G. Haldberd Cannon. Both monsters have great stats with 3300 attack and 2200 defense points a piece, but they have stellar effects as well (Blade Blaster, Haldberd Cannon). The Tech Genus monsters are going to be a force to be reckoned with as long as those cards aren’t banned!

Besides the T.G. monsters, the debut of Life Stream Dragon is very exhilarating as well. I was in awe when I heard that Life Stream Dragon had been revealed for its image had been online for ages, but once Blackwing Dragon had been introduced, I figured that was the end of Life Stream Dragon. When Life Stream Dragon is summoned, you have the option to make your life points 4000, which can be a huge game changer. Plus, any effect damage you take becomes zero and if Life Stream Dragon gets destroyed, you can remove an equip spell instead. All these monsters and new releases makes Extreme Victory a pack worth getting!

Numbers Battle: Aspiring Emperor Hope VS. Revise Dragon

Episode one of Yugioh Zexal featured No.17 Revise Dragon, the first exceed summon in Yugioh history, while episode two featured the second one, No. 39 Aspiring Hope. Though the owner for Aspiring Hope, Yuma, eventually wins the duel, which of the two exceed monsters is the superior?

1. No. 17 Revise Dragon

I had praised this monster pretty highly when I talked about it a while ago, however I have since changed my mind. It is a sold 2000 attack point monster and its effect, by removing an exceed material monster (two), allows Revise Dragon to gain 500 attack points for each monster removed. However, once Revise Dragon has no more exceed material monsters, it can no longer attack so its effect is pretty useless. Unless you need Revise Dragon for quick life point damage, it is quite useless.

Artwork: 8/10, Power: 7/10, Playability: 8/10, Deck Adaptation: 10/10, Effect: 3/10, Game Changer: 5/10. Revise Dragon gets an overall score of 6.8/10 – D+.

2. No. 39 Aspiring Emperor Hope

I had figured that since this was supposed to be Yuma’s key monster, you know the Elemental Hero Neos to Jaden or the Junk Warrior to Yusei, that Aspiring Emperor would be pretty strong. I was wrong. Aspiring Emperor Hope is not terrible, but it’s not nearly as good as I expected it to be. Yes it has 2500 attack and 2000 defense points, but an effect that can save the player and destroy him in the same turn! You can remove an exceed material monster from Aspiring Emperor Hope (two) in order to negate an attack. That sounds great right? Except, once the two exceed material monsters have been removed, Aspiring Emperor Hope is destroyed when it is selected as an attack target (which be a by monster weaker then Aspiring Emperor as well).

Artwork: 7/10, Power: 8/10, Playability: 9/10, Deck Adaptation: 10/10, Effect: 5/10, Game Changer: 7/10 (its effect could be used in a pivotal position). Overall, Aspiring Emperor Hope gets a 7.6/10 – C.

Though both monsters are pretty mediocre, Aspiring Emperor Hope wins.
