The Number One Deck In Yu-Gi-Oh

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

This deck is the number one deck in Yu-Gi-Oh for many reasons. Mainly for its large variety of combos and for it’s unique offensive capabilities. The number one deck in Yu-Gi-Oh is… the Dark Emperor Deck!

Yu-Gi-Oh-Dark-EmperorThe Dark Emperor deck has some of the best combos in all of Yugioh! Its premier card is Ciaus, The Shadow Monarch. This deck revolves around removing cards from play and swarming them back on the field. However, with cards like D.D. Dynamite and Gren Maju De Eiza, removing cards from play causes tons of havoc for your opponent as well. What I love about this deck is that it’s so structured. This deck has only one major weakness, cards like Imperial Iron Wall, and has a few minor weaknesses however, this deck is so balanced and versatile, those weak spots are hard to find.

A great combo in this deck is the Macro Cosmos-Soul Release combo. With Soul Release, you could remove from play, 5 cards from each players graves.  Then with Macro Cosmos, all cards that would be sent to the graveyard are removed from play instead. This includes spells and traps.  Then if you Gren Maju De Eiza on the field, (he gains 400 attack for each of your out-of-play cards) his attack would be at least 2000 due to Soul Release, but it would be much higher when you add a a Macro Cosmos. So one of your monsters has like, 4000 plus attack and defense points. To make matters worse for your foe, if you activate D.D. Dynamite, for every one of your foe’s cards that have removed from play, they lose 300 life points! That would be a lot of damage.

Before I end my post, I want to note that this list is made up of decks you can buy in stores, not home made decks. If this was the Top 5 Home-Made Decks in Yugioh, number one would be the TeleDAD deck. Anyways, I hope that some of you will buy one of these decks for the sake of improving your own decks.

Top 5 Best Yu-Gi-Oh Decks Part 2

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Here are the 3rd and 2nd best decks in all of Yu-Gi-Oh:

3. Starter Deck 2007- Neo Spacian Deck

yugioh-starter-deck-2007This was a deck that I thought was very ordinary until I carefully examined each card that is listed in it. The Neo Spacian deck is one of the best help-side decks ever released. Not only do the effects of spells and traps help further utilize monster effects, it causes tremendous disruptions towards your opponent’s strategies. Though they’re old cards, traps like Sakurtesu Armor and spells like Smashing Ground really help destroy strong monsters that you want to get rid of as quickly as you can. The main focus of this deck is to strengthen Elemental Hero Neos in order to make it invincible. Most of the monsters in Starter Deck 2007 make that task much easier. The only thing I would change about this deck is to remove random monsters. Though the Neo Spacian deck is strong, some cards in there are not a good fit. For instance, Cyber Alligator, should not be in this deck because there are no strategies it can strengthen and it has nothing to do with Neo Spacian theme. Other than that, I think this deck is very strong. If you like your cards to work as a team, this is the deck for you.

2.  The Rise of the Dragon Lords Structure Deck

yugioh-starter-deck-rise-of-the-dragon-lordsAhhh, Dragons, the most popular mythical creatures of all time. They are the strongest mythical creatures of all time too, so just imagine how strong their structure deck would be? The Rise of the Dragon Lords is arguably one of the, if not, the best structure deck of all time. The Rise of the Dragon Lord’s main strategy is remove their powerhouse monster, Felgrand Dragon, and bring it back to the field. That’s fairly easy when you have cards like The Shallow Grave and Call of the Haunted. Then Felgrand Dragon can gain attack points equal the level of a monster in your graveyard x 200! Dark Blaze Dragon also has a graveyard effect. When it comes back from the graveyard it’s attack and defense points are doubled! Plus, when it destroys a monster, your opponent loses life points equal to the destroyed monster! A combo like to pull when I use this deck is the Decoy Dragon combo. I get Dark Blaze Dragon to my graveyard somehow then I play Decoy Dragon. If it gets attacked I can special Dark Blaze Dragon back from the graveyard to wreak havoc! This is works with Felgrand Dragon as well. Rise of the Dragon Lords is the example of the perfect, balanced, deck. It doesn’t compromise offense for defense however  it doesn’t fail to compromise defense for offense as well.

The next post will be the last to the Yugioh Deck series as the number one deck in Yu-Gi-Oh is revealed.

Top 5 Best Yu-Gi-Oh Decks

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

All a duelist has ever wanted is a strong deck. Whether you can get one from collecting rare cards or by creating strategies with a starter, structure, or promotional decks. So In my next three posts, I will be listing the top 5 Yugioh decks someone should buy, if they want to start a strong deck. Here they are:

5.  The Marik Structure Deck

Yu-Gi-Oh Maric

The Marik Structure Deck is one of the most powerful decks in the world due to its burn property. What Marik structure allows duelists to do is to swarm many monsters to your side of the field and inflict major damage through attacks and effects. This deck’s monsters revolve around Gatekeepers so if you already have couple of Gatekeeper monsters in your stock, this deck will be even stronger. Though Marik structure deck  doesn’t utilze many defensive traps and spells, it does have plenty of cards to destroy your opponent’s, with cards like Swarm of Locusts and Malevolent Catastrophe. This deck has all of Marik’s greats as well such as Lava Golem, Revival Jam, and Helphomer.  Though it’s only available in Japan, you can still buy it through websites such as eBay and Amazon, translated in English. Though this deck lacks defense, it is a prime example of the ultimate offensive deck.

4.  The Invincible Fortress Structure Deck

yu-gi-oh-invincible-fortress1

One of the best structure decks ever made, the Invincible Fortress became well known shortly after its release due to its large variety of defensive stats and effects. Though the this deck revolves around strengthening its main card, Exodd, Master of the Guard, there are still other strategies that are in this deck. For instance, the Megarock Dragon combo is very underestimated. Megarock Dragon’s ability is that he gains attack and defense points equal to the amount of the rock monsters you reomved from play to summon him x 700. Due to the fact that 90 percent of the monsters in this deck are rock, by using cards like Card Destruction or Dark Hole, you can remove enough rock monsters from play that Megarock Dragon is, well, invincible. Besides, the combos, the card simplicity is high in this deck. There are tons of easy-to-play cards whose effects are deadly.

The 5th and 4th top decks have been revealed. On my next post, the 4th and 3rd decks will be revealed, one of them which are probably going to be a surprise to many. Stay tuned!

The 2009 Starter Deck: 5Ds Unleashed

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

As you all know, the Raging Battle was released about three weeks ago. On my post about the Raging Battle booster pack, I had written that it was one of the greatest booster packs released in the Yugioh 5Ds arc. The next booster pack being released is the Ancient Prophecy, which will be coming out in August. So if I couldn’t write about booster packs for a while, I thought I’d do some research on some new Yu-Gi-Oh decks. Just like Yugioh GX had its own trademark starter deck with the basic Elemental Heroes, Yugioh 5Ds also has its own trademark starter deck. However, that starter deck has the same old, boring cards Yussei uses. I found that in June, Yugioh 5Ds will have another starter deck to its name.

Starter Deck 2009, or 5Ds unleashed I call it is the newest 5Ds starter deck that makes the old one look like trash. It comes with a couple of never beofre seen monsters, including new tuners and sycnhro monsters Yussei will be using in future episodes. One monster that caught my eye was the new tuner, Road Synchron. Road Synchron is the best tuner I have seen in Yugioh 5Ds. Its stats are that of a mediocre 4 star monster monster but its effect is very helpful. When is used to synchro summon any monster other than Road Warrior, his level decreases by two. If Road Sychron attacks, his level increases by one until the end of the duel. His first effect makes it very easy to synchro summon medium-level monsters like Junk Warrior or Nitro Warrior, however his second effect makes it easier to synchro summon high-level monsters like Star Dust Dragon.

Yu-Gi-Oh Road Synchron

Yu-Gi-Oh Road Synchron

The main monster of the deck is Road Warrior, but he’s not really strong in terms of effects. He does have 3100 attack points and 1500 defense points but he’s extremely hard to summon because you have to use three monsters to synchro summon him (a level eight monster). The reason I like this deck much better than the old 5Ds starter deck(s) is because this one has many strategies to work, mainly the destroy-and-bring-back startegy, but it also revolves around summoning any high level monster. Plus, the tuner monsters in this deck are much stronger than any tuner in the old deck. So for readers who just starterd playing Yu-Gi-Oh, don’t buy the Yugioh 5Ds 2008 Starter Deck, by this one, the much improved starter deck.

Yugioh Blog’s Readers’ Questions

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Hello readers! I told you in my last post that I would be answering some fan questions today. I didn’t get much, but they were some good and curious questions:

1. From SomeBoy

Q: I got 4 common exodia arms and legs, and 1 ultra rare Exodia head. How about selling some stuff?

A: SomeBoy, the most you can get for those cards on eBay is $48, IF your ultra rare Exodia T.F.O is from Legend of Blue Eyes. Common legs of Exodia cost around $2. The arms cost $2.50, and Exodia T.F.O costs $30 at the most.  However you still get about $48 money off selling those on eBay.

2. From jeremy Austin

Q: What is the strongest card of all time and how come you cant use victory dragon in turnement play because it is my favorite card of all time bcause if I attack my opponent directly and reduce his/her life points to 0 so I win the match?

A: The strongest card of all time in my opinion is Yubel the Ultimate Nightmare. You can read about Yubel here. The reason you can’t play Victory Dragon in tournaments is the same reason you can’t play any other card in a tournament. They are all too strong! Like you said, one direct attack from Victory and if your opponent’s life points goes down to 0, you win the match not just the duel. A match is three duels that decide the winners in tournaments.

3. From Yugioh Fan

Q: Why did you only use a 25 card deck? Decks are supposed to have 40 cards in them. I know that that is not a very important question, I just wondered. For info about my 25 card deck, click here.

A: This an important question Yugioh Fan! Why did I only use 25 cards in that duel? Well I guess that deck is not complete so I just wanted to try to see its future potential!

4: From jeremyAustin

Q: Is there a monster called Blue Eyes Emerald Dragon?

A: No jeremyAustin, there is not a monster called Blue Eyes Emerald Dragon. There might be one someday, but currently I have not heard of a Blue Eyes Emerald Dragon.

Well, thank you for the questions readers! Just keep sending me questions and I will be obliged to answer them!

A Quick Win: Very Strong Yugioh Dragon Deck

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Hello readers! For quite some time I have only been talking about the newest installments in Yugioh, Yugioh booster packs, and the latest Yugioh games. I thought to my self, why don’t I answer some questions my readers have? If any of you have any questions about Yugioh topics that interest you, I will answer them. Just leave your question as a comment and the first 10 questions I receive will be posted on my ‘Readers’ Questions’ post(s).

During a duel I had with my friend, I decided I wanted to use my 25 card dragon deck. This consisted of the rarest dragon cards such as Blue Eyes, Blue Eyes fusions, and dragon powered cards like Dark Paladin. The results I had found were astounding. It took me five turns to defeat my friend. How? The first six cards I drew were 3x Blue Eyes W. Dragon, Polymerization, Future Fusion, and Blue Eyes S. Dragon

What I did was fusion summon Blue Eyes U. Dragon and then attack my friend directly. Next I special summoned Blue Eyes S. Dragon and attacked directly with it. My friend had 500 life points left! After a three turn skirmish, he activated Dark Hole. I would be finished if my monsters were destroyed so I activated Quick Fusion and fusion summoned Dark Paladin. With its effect, I destroyed Dark Hole and attacked him directly.

I was stunned about how fast I won the duel. It usually takes me 10 turns to win with my main deck but it took 5 turns to win with this one. This shocked me because there is hardly any cards in this deck! This shows if your monsters/combos are strong, you can win no matter how little cards you have in a deck.

How to Make a Strong Yugioh Deck

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

As I searched the web to find new topics for my blog, I found a very interesting topic that might be useful to any duelist. Many people were having trouble making a good Yugioh deck. Making a Yugioh deck is very simple. I’ve been noticing duelists are making it more complicated than it really is.

Once you’ve gathered up the cards you might want to use for your deck, sort them based on the type of card. Create a pile for effect monsters, normal monsters, spell cards, and trap cards. Ideally you keep on analyzing each deck you make and see if it has good combos and strong monsters, but what I’ve done in the past is I have made the deck and then tested its strength in a duel. If you find your deck and its cards flow together, that’s definitely the deck you want to use.

The most basic rule of making a deck is never put to many high level monsters. I would recommend adding four 5-6 level monsters, and two 7-10 level monsters. Also, you never just throw in l-4 leveled monsters. You have to make sure there effects match your deck theme, that they are strong effect-wise, offensively, and defensively. Chain effects help a lot in a duel as well.

The trap cards that you put in your deck must be a great defensive card. You need to be able to rely on your trap cards for instant defensive. Spell cards however can be offensive or defensive. Think of your spell cards as power-ups for your monsters. They should be able to help your monsters defeat your foe’s monsters.

Whether it’s a burn or a theme, the type of deck you want is ultimately your choice. These are just tips on how to format your deck. As long as you can win with your Yugioh deck, you know that is your deck.

Black Rose Dragon, the Strongest Dragon Monster

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Recently, I opened the Black Rose Dragon tin deck at my friend’s birthday party. My friend and I were shocked at how many great cards were in their. The Black Rose Dragon Tin Deck revolved around plant. I also got to see the new beast of Yugioh 5Ds, Black Rose Dragon. There were many valuable cards in that tin. If any duelists want to make a plant deck, I recommend buying this tin first. It had great combos and great cards, including Black Rose Dragon. I saw another familiar monster in the tin. It was Resurrection Demon King Ha Des. R.D.K. Ha Des was similar to the original Ha Des. They both had the same attack and defense points, plus their images looked similar too. However this Ha Des had a better effect. The original Ha Des’ ability was that if he destroyed an effect monster, that monster’s effect was negated. Demon King Ha Des’ ability was the same except it worked with zombie monsters as well.

Black Rose Dragon

Black Rose Dragon

As great as the other cards were, I was pulled away by the star of the show, Black Rose Dragon. She had a great ability. When she is summoned, she can destroy all monsters on the field. Once per, you can discard one plant monster from your graveyard to switch one of your opponent’s monster’s to attack position. The funny thing is, it will have no attack points! This would be a start to a great combo. Synchro summon Black Rose Dragon and use her effect destroying all cards on the field including herself. Then use monster reborn to bring her back and then attack attack your foe directly. Next, play Stray Lambs and end your turn. However you must set some trap card(s) that in some prevent your opponent from playing a monster. Next, on your turn, sacrifice any amount of Stray Lamb tokens and play a strong monster. Attack with Black Rose D. and your tribute summoned monster to deal a great amount of damage. My conclusion is this; Black Rose Dragon tin is one of the best tins ever. The main reason, because it revolves around a certain type of monster, allowing you to make more combos, summon stronger monsters, and easily defeat your opponent.

The Elemental Hero Deck

Sunday, January 11th, 2009
Yu-Gi-Oh Elemental Hero Neos

Elemental Hero Neos

Today I dueled one of my friends to see who was a stronger duelist. Instead of using my main deck, I decided on trying my new Hero deck. This deck consisted of cards like Elemental Hero Neos and Destiny Hero Doom Lord. My friend’s deck consisted of strong fiend cards like Dark Necrofear and Raviel Lord of Phantasms.

I had an advantage in this duel. My friend had a lot of strong monsters, but he did not have any strategy. Many of his spell and trap cards had nothing to do with fiends and were just in his deck for their effects. At first he used Card of Destruction and discarded his hand, which had three fiends in them. He removed the three fiends from play to summon Dark Necrofear.

He inflicted lots of damage to me with Dark Necrofear. It seemed as if the duel was his. However, I drew a clutch card in the 9th turn. It was Destiny Hero Doom Lord. I played D-Hero Doom Lord and activated his effect. He could send one monster out of play and it would return in the second standby phase of this effect’s activation, but Necrofear cannot be special summoned unless you remove from play three fiends so it was a good move on my part.

In my friend’s next turn he destroyed Doom Lord with Octaclops. Due to my Hero Signal trap card, I special summoned onto the field E-Hero Neos. In my turn, I special summoned E-Hero Sparkman with the effect of O-Oversoul. When I activated my Pot of Greed, I sealed the duel. I had drawn Hero FLASH!!. Since Oversoul, Heated Heart, Emergency Call, and Righteous Justice was in the graveyard, I was able to activate Hero FLASH!!. With Hero Flash, all my normal monsters could attack directly. This included my Sparkman, Warrior Dai Grepher, and my Neos. With the attack, my friend lost 5800 life points, costing him the duel.

Since then I have given my Elemental Hero Deck and upgrade. I have added more monsters to it and more defensive spell and traps like Sakuretsu Armor. This deck consists of some of the most popular Yugioh cards. My friend even told me this was a Yugioh deck to be feared. Though I assembled it with random Hero cards, it seems to have enough potential to be my starting deck.

Good: Many, many, possible combos. A lot of fusions. Strong monsters.

Bad: Not enough defensive cards. Trap cards are very predictable.

Deck Rating: 9/10

Yugioh Structure Decks

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

Many duelists like to make decks out of their rare cards. They see which monsters, spells, and traps are fit to be in their deck. That is how I created my deck as well. However, when you first start playing Yugioh, creating your deck is not a good idea. Type Structure decks provide young duelists a starting deck in which they can build on as they gain experience with cards of their choice.

Currently, there are 14 structure decks in the U.S. For beginner duelists, buying a structure deck is a good way to start your dueling career. Not only do the 14 structure decks teach basic combos, they also show young duelists how to win in a clutch situation.

One of my favorite structure decks is the Dark Emperor deck. This deck has very good combos and makes it easy to play high level monsters. For example, by activating Dimensional Fissure, any destroyed card goes out of play instead of the graveyard. After a few turns there will be many monsters out of play. Then by activating Return from a Different Dimension, you can special summon as many monsters as you can from out of play. You can tribute some of those monsters to play a stronger monster or attack with all of them.

It doesn’t matter what structure deck you buy, it is sure to help you. I learned many key strategies from decks like Invincible Fortress and Warriors Triumph. I guarantee that anybody will improve as a duelist by using structure decks.

Positive: Teaches basic and advanced combos; strategies.

Negative: Not many powerful monsters, not tournament caliber decks.

Deck(s) Rating: 9/10
