Top Extra Deck Monsters

It is important to have a strong extra deck and these are some powerful monsters to have in your extra deck.

If you guys remember, I wrote a post about whether exceed summoning or synchro summoning was the superior way to special summon from the extra deck. Applying parts of that discussion, today I wanted to talk about which were the strongest monsters of each of the summoning categories: fusion, synchro, and exceed. I will give you guys my list and you guys can give your’s in the comments section! (Note: no banned cards were looked at).

Yugioh Ultimate Axon Kicker1. Fusion Monster – Ultimate Axon Kicker

Not only does it look like one, but with 2900 attack points and amazing effects, Ultimate Axon Kicker is a MONSTER! For one Ultimate Axon Kicker cannot be destroyed by card effects. Wow. Basically, the only to beat is to negate its fusion summon or to beat it by battle (which is a challenge). Also, whenever Ultimate Axon Kicker destroys a monster by battle, you gain life points equal to that monster’s attack! If those two effects don’t seem are destructive already, Ultimate Axon Kicker also has a piercing effect… It is a bit difficult to play, but it’s impossibly hard to play like Red Nova Dragon . You have to fuse a psychic synchro monster with a normal psychic monster. Having Fusion Sage in your deck makes the process easier. That’s Ultimate Axon Kicker’s only downside; other than that, it is a beast and is virtually indestructible.

Honorable mentions: Naturia Leodrake, Supreme Arcanite Magician, and Five Headed God Dragon

Yugioh Brionac the Dragon of the Ice Barrier2. Synchro Monster – Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Unlike my Top 10 Synchros post, I actually looked at how easy it was to play when deciding what synchro monster to pick. Eventually, I just had to go and pick Brionac. It is a level six and thus the easiest type of synchro monster to play. Plus, once it is played, it is very deadly. Brionac has 2300 attack points and can clear the field with its effect, which allows you to return a number cards back on the field back to the owner’s hand by discarding the same number of cards from the user’s hand. Brionac is also phenomenal with Infernity, since getting rid of cards from the hand is key in an Infernity deck.

Honorable mentions: Stardust Dragon, Colossal Fighter, and Trishula Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Yugioh Vylon Disigma3. Exceed Monster – Vylon Disgma

is a really powerful exceed monster . You do need three, level four monsters to play it, but its effect and stats (2500 atk, 2100 def) makes it worth it. Once per turn, you can remove 1 exceed material monster from Vylon Disgma to select 1 face-up attack position effect monster your opponent controls, and equip it to this card as an Equip Card. When this card battles a monster that has the same attribute as a monster equipped to this card by this card’s effect, destroy that monster at the start of the damage Step (without damage calculation). That’s a clutch effect! Plus, unlike most exceed monsters, there is no negative side to Vylon Disgma when it runs out of exceed material monsters (for instance, Utopia gets destroyed if it has no exceed material monsters).

Honorable mentions: No.83 Galaxy Queen, No.39 Utopia, Protector of Founders – Tyrus

Top 10 Synchros in Yugioh Part 2

5. Colossal Fighter

Colossal Fighter is a powerful monster and is arguably the best warrior synchro monster in Yugioh. With 2800 attack points and 1000 defense points, it is a good offensive monster as well. However, the reason Colossal Fighter is on this list is because 0f its effect. It gains 100 attack points for every warrior monster in both player’s graveyard and when its destroyed, Colossal Fighter can revive any warrior monster from either graveyard. The best part is, it can revive itself as well! Colossal Fighter is a great monster to have in a warrior deck. Due to its second effect, Colossal Fighter is a great OTK card as well. A good OTK with Colossal Fighter is to play Armory Arm and equip to a monster on your opponent’s side of the field that is stronger than Colossal Fighter. Then attack the monster with Colossal Fighter, revive Colossal Fighter, and repeat and because of Armory Arm’s effect, it is your opponent that loses 2800 life points each attack.

4. Black Rose Dragon

The monster form of Dark Hole, Black Rose Dragon is an easily playable, nuke monster. When it’s special summoned, Black Rose Dragon destroys the whole field. Plus, if you have another summon left, Black Rose Dragon allows you to have a direct attack opportunity. If you decide to keep Black Rose Dragon, that’s fine too because with 2400 attack points and another stellar, Black Rose Dragon can still prove to be vital. Once per turn, Black Rose Dragon can switch the battle position of a monster on your opponent’s side of the field and reduce its attack points to 0, giving you the chance to inflict at least 2400 points of damage upon your opponent! It is my favorite 5Ds dragon, and it is the most powerful as well.

3. Goyo Guardian

Being the strongest level six monster statistically wise (2800 attack points) and being a level six synchro monster (and thus being the easiest type of synchro monster to summon) earned Goyo Guardian the third spot on the list. However we can’t forget its awesome effect; when Goyo Guardian destroys a monster by battle, it can bring it on to your side of the field. Enough said.

2. Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

The ultimate counter to the greatest of defenses is Brionac, who isn’t much of a barrier as he is as a bomb! Thought its stats are decent with 2300 attack points and 1400 defense points, Brionac has a stellar effect that allows it to discard a certain amount of cards in order to return cards on the field back to the hands of the respective owners equal to the total of cards discarded. Brionac goes great with Infernity decks and other swarm decks as well. It’s also easy to play, as it is a level six monster. The only weakness Brionac has is its relatively weak stats.

1. Red Nova Dragon

This might come as a surprise to many, however I believe Red Nova Dragon deserves to number one. For one, it’s not that hard to summon as it needs one monster and two tuners to summon. That’s not really hard to accomplish. However its effect is so good, no matter how hard Red Nova Dragon’s summoning conditions seem to be, it’s totally worth it. RND has a whopping 3500 gains 500 attack points for every tuner monster in your graveyard, so it will actually have 4500 attack points (at the least). Plus it cannot be destroyed by card effects. The best part about RND’s effect is that it can sacrifice itself to negate an attack, and then revive itself at the end phase! Red Nova Dragon is definitely the strongest synchro monster, and might even be the strongest monster in Yugioh as well.

Honorable mentions: Power Tool Dragon, Light End Dragon, and Arcanite Magician.

5. Colossal Fighter

Top 15 Strong and Easy to Summon Monsters Part 2

Here is part two of the list:

10. Armed Dragon LV5, 9. Penguin Soldier, 8. Reflect Bounder, 7. Elemental Hero Wildheart, 6. Brionac Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Here is part two of the list:

Yugioh Armed Dragon LV510. Armed Dragon LV5

Armed Dragon is a fabulous card to have in any deck, as long you have Armed Dragon LV3 that is. Compared to its LV7 and LV10, Lv5 may lack in power however simple summoning capabilities make it the best one of the four. All you have to do to summon Armed Dragon LV5 is tribute one monster from your side of the field, or you can tribute A.D. LV3 to special summon LV5 from your deck. As long as you discard a monster with higher attack points than the target, Armed Dragon LV5 can basically destroy any monster your foe has. Plus with its 2400 attack points, Armed Dragon LV5 could clear the field and inflict lots of direct damage to your opponent.

Yugioh Penguin Soldier9. Penguin Soldier

The adorable and cute-looking Penguin Soldier can be a major threat to your opponent. In fact, whenever I play my Yugioh: 7 Trials to Glory video game, I am so paranoid in attacking face-down monsters because I assume that it could be a Penguin Soldier! When Penguin Soldier is flipped, you can return up to two monster cards on the field to the owner’s hand. Penguin Soldier could clear your foe’s field for you to directly attack them. It is such an efficient and easy-to-summon monster.

Yugioh Reflect Bounder8. Reflect Bounder

Reflect Bounder is the monster entity of Magic Cylinder. Not only is it a level four monster (therefore easy to play) but its effect is like a trap card. When attacked, Reflect Bounder “reflects” damage equal to the attack of the attacking monster right back to the opponent. Though Reflect Bounder is destroyed right after using its effect, it can still be a duel-changer. You can think of it like a Magic Cylinder, for its effect is very similar. Plus, with 1700 attack points, Reflect Bounder is also decent in the defensive side as well. A great monster that meshes with any deck.

Yugioh Elemental Hero Wildheart7. Elemental Hero Wildheart

Besides Penguin Soldier, Elemental Hero Wildheart is my favorite monster in Yugioh and for one reason only: it cannot be affected by trap cards. Yep, it can’t be affected, not targeted, affected. If your foe plays a Draining Shield on you or Torrential Tribute, whoops! Elemental Hero Wildheart takes no effect from the traps. Your opponent can only destroy Wildhear by spells (quick spells if it’s your turn), monster effects, or by battle. Let’s face it, monsters are 90% of the time destroyed by traps or by battle. If you equip an Axe of Despair or Malevolent Nuzzler to Wildheart, it’ll be virtually indestructible with 2500/2300 attack points. As soon as a monster is immune to traps, it takes a lot of time to destroy it. That’s why Wildheart, who is one of the few monsters (or the only one) with this ability, is so strong, it had to be high on the list.

Yugioh Brionac Dragon of the Ice Barrier6. Brionac Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Imagine a monster equivalent to a bunch of Penguin Soldiers, the result is Brionac. First of all, Brionac is a synchro monster which means you can either just synchro summon him (which is a simple process) or revive him from the graveyard with a Monster Reborn or a Premature Burial. Brionac has 2300 attack points, making him a strong monster in terms of stats, however I love Brionac because it can basically clear your opponent’s field; literally. You can discard any number of cards to the graveyard to return the same amount of cards on the field to the respective owner’s hand. Plus, you can activate this effect during your foe’s turn as well. He can make the field wide open basically EVERY TURN for direct attacks. What a beast.
