Cards Everyone Should Have In a Deck

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

There are some cards in Yugioh that have to be, and would benefit the user, if they were their deck. Obviously, that list wouldn’t include many monsters because people usually have theme decks and different type of monsters would just disrupt their dueling style. Still, the road to victory is usually achieved by having a balanced deck as well as a diverse one. So here are some cards that you MUST have in a deck (Note: there are five cards per section):

Spells:

Poison of the Old Man/ (tied with) Lightning Vortex

Rush Recklessly

Fighting Spirit

Mage Power

United We Stand

Traps:

Sakuretsu Armor

Dark Bribe

Mirror Force

Magical Cylinder

Draining Shield

Monsters:

Penguin Soldier

Gravekeeper’s Guard

Cyber Dragon

Man Eater Bug

Mask of Darkness

Top 5 Best Yu-Gi-Oh Decks Part 2

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Here are the 3rd and 2nd best decks in all of Yu-Gi-Oh:

3. Starter Deck 2007- Neo Spacian Deck

yugioh-starter-deck-2007This was a deck that I thought was very ordinary until I carefully examined each card that is listed in it. The Neo Spacian deck is one of the best help-side decks ever released. Not only do the effects of spells and traps help further utilize monster effects, it causes tremendous disruptions towards your opponent’s strategies. Though they’re old cards, traps like Sakurtesu Armor and spells like Smashing Ground really help destroy strong monsters that you want to get rid of as quickly as you can. The main focus of this deck is to strengthen Elemental Hero Neos in order to make it invincible. Most of the monsters in Starter Deck 2007 make that task much easier. The only thing I would change about this deck is to remove random monsters. Though the Neo Spacian deck is strong, some cards in there are not a good fit. For instance, Cyber Alligator, should not be in this deck because there are no strategies it can strengthen and it has nothing to do with Neo Spacian theme. Other than that, I think this deck is very strong. If you like your cards to work as a team, this is the deck for you.

2.  The Rise of the Dragon Lords Structure Deck

yugioh-starter-deck-rise-of-the-dragon-lordsAhhh, Dragons, the most popular mythical creatures of all time. They are the strongest mythical creatures of all time too, so just imagine how strong their structure deck would be? The Rise of the Dragon Lords is arguably one of the, if not, the best structure deck of all time. The Rise of the Dragon Lord’s main strategy is remove their powerhouse monster, Felgrand Dragon, and bring it back to the field. That’s fairly easy when you have cards like The Shallow Grave and Call of the Haunted. Then Felgrand Dragon can gain attack points equal the level of a monster in your graveyard x 200! Dark Blaze Dragon also has a graveyard effect. When it comes back from the graveyard it’s attack and defense points are doubled! Plus, when it destroys a monster, your opponent loses life points equal to the destroyed monster! A combo like to pull when I use this deck is the Decoy Dragon combo. I get Dark Blaze Dragon to my graveyard somehow then I play Decoy Dragon. If it gets attacked I can special Dark Blaze Dragon back from the graveyard to wreak havoc! This is works with Felgrand Dragon as well. Rise of the Dragon Lords is the example of the perfect, balanced, deck. It doesn’t compromise offense for defense however  it doesn’t fail to compromise defense for offense as well.

The next post will be the last to the Yugioh Deck series as the number one deck in Yu-Gi-Oh is revealed.

Top 5 Best Yu-Gi-Oh Decks

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

All a duelist has ever wanted is a strong deck. Whether you can get one from collecting rare cards or by creating strategies with a starter, structure, or promotional decks. So In my next three posts, I will be listing the top 5 Yugioh decks someone should buy, if they want to start a strong deck. Here they are:

5.  The Marik Structure Deck

Yu-Gi-Oh Maric

The Marik Structure Deck is one of the most powerful decks in the world due to its burn property. What Marik structure allows duelists to do is to swarm many monsters to your side of the field and inflict major damage through attacks and effects. This deck’s monsters revolve around Gatekeepers so if you already have couple of Gatekeeper monsters in your stock, this deck will be even stronger. Though Marik structure deck  doesn’t utilze many defensive traps and spells, it does have plenty of cards to destroy your opponent’s, with cards like Swarm of Locusts and Malevolent Catastrophe. This deck has all of Marik’s greats as well such as Lava Golem, Revival Jam, and Helphomer.  Though it’s only available in Japan, you can still buy it through websites such as eBay and Amazon, translated in English. Though this deck lacks defense, it is a prime example of the ultimate offensive deck.

4.  The Invincible Fortress Structure Deck

yu-gi-oh-invincible-fortress1

One of the best structure decks ever made, the Invincible Fortress became well known shortly after its release due to its large variety of defensive stats and effects. Though the this deck revolves around strengthening its main card, Exodd, Master of the Guard, there are still other strategies that are in this deck. For instance, the Megarock Dragon combo is very underestimated. Megarock Dragon’s ability is that he gains attack and defense points equal to the amount of the rock monsters you reomved from play to summon him x 700. Due to the fact that 90 percent of the monsters in this deck are rock, by using cards like Card Destruction or Dark Hole, you can remove enough rock monsters from play that Megarock Dragon is, well, invincible. Besides, the combos, the card simplicity is high in this deck. There are tons of easy-to-play cards whose effects are deadly.

The 5th and 4th top decks have been revealed. On my next post, the 4th and 3rd decks will be revealed, one of them which are probably going to be a surprise to many. Stay tuned!
