Who is the Worst Duelist In the Yugioh Anime?

The main message throughout the three seasons of Yugioh (Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yugioh GX, and Yugioh 5Ds), we have continuously been reminded that the key to victory is believing in the “heart of the cards.” Though that ideal would be completely useless in the real world, it seems to work for duelists in the anime, notably Yugi/Atem, Jaden, and Yussei, which is why those three are the best duelists in the anime. Obviously, there are strong duelists as well: Joey, Kaiba, Chazz, Syrus, Crow, Jack, etc… and to some extent, the “heart of the cards” ideal works for them too. Then we have the crappy duelists, protagonist characters characters that are affected by the HOTC ideal, but still are terrible duelists: Duke Devlin, Alexis, Leo, etc…

The best part about Yugioh is when you see strong duelists overcome difficult adversities and as a result, are overcome by sudden happiness and inspiration. Of course, seeing duelists get destroyed in a duel(s) is another great part Yugioh, for that brings the humorous aspect to the show, which gets me to my point. In your guys’ opinion, who is that one duelist that you feel great pleasure in seeing lose? That one duelist that you feel doesn’t even deserve to be called a duelist? In short, who is the worst duelist in Yugioh? For me, the answer is Leo, what about you guys (note: this has to be a legit duelist, Tea for example, doesn’t count as she isn’t a pure duelist)?

5. Colossal Fighter

Colossal Fighter is a powerful monster and is arguably the best warrior synchro monster in Yugioh. With 2800 attack points and 1000 defense points, it is a good offensive monster as well. However, the reason Colossal Fighter is on this list is because 0f its effect. It gains 100 attack points for every warrior monster in both player’s graveyard and when its destroyed, Colossal Fighter can revive any warrior monster from either graveyard. The best part is, it can revive itself as well! Colossal Fighter is a great monster to have in a warrior deck. Due to its second effect, Colossal Fighter is a great OTK card as well. A good OTK with Colossal Fighter is to play Armory Arm and equip to a monster on your opponent’s side of the field that is stronger than Colossal Fighter. Then attack the monster with Colossal Fighter, revive Colossal Fighter, and repeat and because of Armory Arm’s effect, it is your opponent that loses 2800 life points each attack.

4. Black Rose Dragon

The monster form of Dark Hole, Black Rose Dragon is an easily playable, nuke monster. When it’s special summoned, Black Rose Dragon destroys the whole field. Plus, if you have another summon left, Black Rose Dragon allows you to have a direct attack opportunity. If you decide to keep Black Rose Dragon, that’s fine too because with 2400 attack points and another stellar, Black Rose Dragon can still prove to be vital. Once per turn, Black Rose Dragon can switch the battle position of a monster on your opponent’s side of the field and reduce its attack points to 0, giving you the chance to inflict at least 2400 points of damage upon your opponent! It is my favorite 5Ds dragon, and it is the most powerful as well.

3. Goyo Guardian

Being the strongest level six monster statistically wise (2800 attack points) and being a level six synchro monster (and thus being the easiest type of synchro monster to summon) earned Goyo Guardian the third spot on the list. However we can’t forget its awesome effect; when Goyo Guardian destroys a monster by battle, it can bring it on to your side of the field. Enough said.

2. Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

The ultimate counter to the greatest of defenses is Brionac, who isn’t much of a barrier as he is as a bomb! Thought its stats are decent with 2300 attack points and 1400 defense points, Brionac has a stellar effect that allows it to discard a certain amount of cards in order to return cards on the field back to the hands of the respective owners equal to the total of cards discarded. Brionac goes great with Infernity decks and other swarm decks as well. It’s also easy to play, as it is a level six monster. The only weakness Brionac has is its relatively weak stats.

1. Red Nova Dragon

This might come as a surprise to many, however I believe Red Nova Dragon deserves to number one. For one, it’s not that hard to summon as it needs one monster and two tuners to summon. That’s not really hard to accomplish. However its effect is so good, no matter how hard Red Nova Dragon’s summoning conditions seem to be, it’s totally worth it. RND has a whopping 3500 gains 500 attack points for every tuner monster in your graveyard, so it will actually have 4500 attack points (at the least). Plus it cannot be destroyed by card effects. The best part about RND’s effect is that it can sacrifice itself to negate an attack, and then revive itself at the end phase! Red Nova Dragon is definitely the strongest synchro monster, and might even be the strongest monster in Yugioh as well.

Honorable mentions: Power Tool Dragon, Light End Dragon, and Arcanite Magician.

I’ve done a bunch of top Yugioh monster lists, but not a top Yugioh synchro monster list, which is funny because they are possibly the most popular group of cards to ever be released in the whole Yugioh franchise!

The ultimate battle of the celestial realm; Obelisk the Tormentor VS. The Winged Dragon of Ra! The two cards became so popular (despite being unusable) that they were turned into legal, deadly monsters. They won’t be a part of high-tiered decks, but they can still be mighty powerful if played. Which one is the mightiest however? Which God provides the easiest victory? Let us commence the War of Heaven! The Wicked Monsters (The Wicked Avatar, The Wicked Eraser, and the Wicked Dreadroot) are three of the strongest monsters in all of Yugioh. They are promotional Yugioh cards and might take some time to acquire, as you will to have to find and order a specific Shonen Jump magazine from the internet. However, taking the time to obtaining these monsters are worth it; having these monsters in your deck will substantially increase your chances of winning. The Wicked Dreadroot isn’t as popular as the other two, so for today’s card comparison, we’re going to compare The Wicked Avatar and The Wicked Eraser and find out which deserves the title of “The Ultimate Wicked.”

1. The Wicked Avatar

The Wicked Avatar is a monster I would never want to face, and for good reason: it’s always going to have the highest attack on the field! The Wicked Avatar’s effect allows it have 100 more attack and defense points than the monster(s) that had the most attack and defense before The Wicked Avatar’s entrance in the duel. The Wicked Avatar has a great defensive effect too: your foe cannot use spell and trap cards until the end of their second after The Wicked Avatar is played. That means your opponent will virtually have little to none defense for two turns! The Wicked Avatar is force be reckoned with indeed.

Artwork: 1/10, Effect: 10/10, Power: 10/10, Deck Adaptation: 9/10, Game Changer: 9/10, Playability: 7/10. Overall, The Wicked Avatar gets an score of 7.7/10 – C+.

2. The Wicked Eraser

The Wicked Eraser is also another monster to be worried about because its stats are going to really powerful. The Wicked Eraser gains 1000 attack and defense for every card, yes card, on your opponent’s side of the field. The Wicked Eraser, at the least, is going to have 3000 attack points. Now if your opponent’s deck revolves around swarming, like a Blackwing deck, The Wicked Eraser will have at least 4-5 thousand attack points and will be a huge threat. The Wicked Eraser can be used as a last resort monster as well. If your opponent plays numerous ace monsters in one turn and are about to start a life point assault, you can use The Wicked Eraser’s second effect to protect yourself: In your main phase, you can remove The Wicked Eraser from the field an destroy all cards on the field. This effect could be a huge momentum shifter.

Artwork: 6/10, Effect: 9/10, Power: 10/10, Deck Adaptation: 9/10, Game Changer: 9/10, Playability: 7/10. Overall, The Wicked Eraser gets a score of 8.3/10 – B.

Okay, because The Wicked Avatar has the most boring and uncool image, The Wicked Eraser beats The Wicked Avatar in an overall viewpoint. However, excluding artwork, The Wicked Avatar beats the Wicked Eraser by .2 points (9/10 in comparison to 8.8/10)! They are both extremely good monsters but if they were used against each other in a duel, The Wicked Avatar would have a higher attack and defense than The Wicked Eraser! That was the deciding factor.

Yugioh Network is a really cool site where you can create your own deck and duel with others. It’s really intriguing because you have virtually all the cards created in Yugioh so you can experiment various decks in the site. I’ve talked about Yugioh Network in detail in a previous post, so if you want to learn more about Yugioh Network, read that. In the meantime, I just wanted everyone to see a video of a duel in Yugioh Network. It truly is a really cool site and I recommend everyone get a Yugioh Network account so we can all duel together!

Yugioh Road Warrior VS. Junk Destroyer

Road Warrior

With 3000 attack points, it might only seem like a stat powerhouse at first, but Road Warrior actually as a really good ability. You see, once per turn it allows the user to special summon one level two or lower machine/warrior monster on to the field. That’s a great effect because it allows you to swarm tuners! Road Warrior gives you a lot of opportunities to create more synchro monsters. It is a really powerful monster, and though it shouldn’t be your ace, its one heck of a good sidekick.

Artwork: 7/10, Effect: 8/10, Deck Adaptation: 5/10, Power: 9/10, Game Changer: 8/10, Playability: 7/10. Overall, Road Warrior receives a score of 7.3/10 – C.

Junk Destroyer

Junk Destroyer is a cool card. Not only is its design cool but it is another one of Junk Synchron’s synchro transformations! Junk Destroyer was the card that helped Yusei Breo in the World Grand Prix as well. Junk Destroyer is a powerful 2600 attack point and 2500 defense point monster that can destroy cards in the field equivalent to the amount of non-tuners used to summon him. A pretty good effect if you have a deck with a high ratio of low-leveled monsters.

Artwork: 6/10, Effect: 7/10, Power: 8/10, Deck Adaptation: 5/10, Game Changer: 10/10, Playability: 7/10. Overall, Junk Destroyer gets a score off 7/10 – C-.

Alas, we have our winner for the day, Road Warrior! Their both great monsters but Road Warrior outs Junk Destroyer in terms of effect and power. Junk Destroyer’s effect can be a huge game changer however it is a bit difficult to tune numerous monsters and that’s why it got a deduction in the effect category.

Yugioh Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste VS Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard

1. Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste

The fusion of a dragon synchro monster and a warrior monster, DKDE is one of Yussei’s most dangerous and deadly monsters. Not only does it have a whopping 3200 attack points, but its effect can pose as a major threat to your opponent as well. Once per turn DKDE can takes effect of a synchro dragon monster in your graveyard. If you use a good dragon deck with powerful dragon synchros, then this effect is very handy! Suppose you have a Trident Dragon in your graveyard, then DKDE gains Trident Dragon’s ability to attack in succession (with the sacrifice of two monsters). A possible OTK! If DKDE is used in a powerful dragon deck, it can become one of the trickiest monsters to defeat.

Artwork: 10/10, Effect: 8/10, Deck Adaptation: 2/10, Power: 10/10, Game Changer: 10/10, Playability: 4/10. DKDE gets an overall rating of a 4.4/5, or a B+ (note that fusion will get get lower scores then other monsters as they are more difficult to bring out and they cannot mesh as easily in random decks as normal, ritual, effect, or synchro monsters can. Thus, I always half the denominator when calculating a monster’s overall factor).
2. Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard

Though the Supreme Wizard isn’t released until Starstrike Blast, I thought it would be fun to compare it with DKDE (as they are both immensely strong fusion monsters). The Supreme Wizard has a decent attack (1400) and great defense (2800). However, through its effect Supreme Wizard can gain two thousand more attack points. When the Supreme Wizard is summoned, it receives two spell counters and gains 1000 attack points were each counter. In addition to that effect, once per turn the Supreme Wizard can remove one counter from play and destroy a card on the field/ or draw a card! It would be the trump monster in any spell counter deck!

Artwork: 8/10, Effect: 9/10, Deck Adaptation: 2/10, Power: 10/10, Game Changer: 9/10, Playability: 4/10. Overall, Arcane Magician, the Supreme Wizard gets a rating of 4.2/5 – B. Which means are winner for the day is DKDE!

Yugioh Deck: Spell Counter Explosion

After I started playing Yugioh network, I’ve been able to toy around with and test out lot of decks. I’ve created my great Dark World Infirnity deck and have even beat down some duelists with a great Alien deck. However, one of the decks I had been trying to make for a long time (and finally got the chance to thanks to Yugioh Network) was Spell Counter Explosion. This deck basically utilizes cards that distribute spell counters and cards that are powered by those spell counters. The deck revolves around the field spell Magical Citadel of Endymion. I didn’t really expect the deck to be great, but it has proven to be astonishingly strong and so far, I have a record of 3-2 with Spell Counter Explosion.

Now don’t confuse Spell Counter Explosion with the deck Magical Explosion, as Magical Explosion focuses for on milling, stocking up on spells, and dealing great amounts with the trap card Magical Explosion. Spell Counter Explosion utilizes cards like Breaker the Magical Warrior, Pitch Black Power Stone, and Mega Ton Magical Cannon. The best thing about the deck is that it is fast and you can deal big damage pretty much any turn. As for the ‘Trump Card’ of Spell Counter Explosion, I’d say it is Arcanite Magician Assault Mode. Arcanite Magician Assault Mode is the power-form of Arcanite Magician and thus it has the same affect, but amplified: When this card is Special Summoned, place 2 Spell Counters on it. This card gains 1000 ATK for each Spell Counter on it. You can remove 2 Spell Counters from this card to destroy all cards your opponent controls. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 “Arcanite Magician” from your Graveyard. It’s a very powerful card as it is, and in a Spell Counter Explosion deck where you can stack spell counters on a monster with ease, just think how unstoppable this monster could be.

I think Spell Counter Explosion is another one those really underrated (yet powerful) decks, as I never see it used in duels. I can’t wait for the release of the ultimate spell counter monster; Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard which will arrive in the Starstrike Blast booster pack. Spell Counter Explosion may not be a tier 0 or even tier 1 deck, but it sure is a strong and fun deck to play with! My overall record in Yugioh Network is currently 10-8, and four of those wins are thanks to Spell Counter Explosion!
