Yugioh Zexal World Championship 2012

Yugioh Zexal World Championship has the potential to be one of the greatest Yugioh video games, thanks to the introduction of Numbers!

Yugioh Astral and YumaI have  been a huge fan of Yugioh World Championship games ever since it was released for the Nintendo DS. I was enthralled by Stardust Accelerator when it was released in 2009. I was awed with its duel-runner capabilities and held the game series with high regard. With a awesome storyline and phenomenal gameplay, last year’s Over the Nexus increased my liking for the World Championship series. Though it hasn’t been released yet, I have high expectations of the upcoming 2012 World Championship game, Beginning the New Number. Continue reading “Yugioh Zexal World Championship 2012”

Yugioh Zexal – What Happened to Astral World?

There are a lot of mysteries in Yugioh Zexal surrounding Astral world and in this post, I give my thoughts about those mysteries and predictions as to what is to come.

I have been following Yugioh Zexal for quite sometime now, and I must say, it is no where as good as 5Ds or GX. There are too many filler episodes that are insignificant to the story. The current Grand Prix arc seems to be quite interesting with an introduction to new villains (the Tron family, Tron, III, IV, and V). Astral World has been brought up a lot during this story-line: its destruction, Astral’s “exile”, and the significance of the Emperor’s Key. I have one question: what the heck happened to Astral world and how are Yuma and his parents tied to all of this? Continue reading “Yugioh Zexal – What Happened to Astral World?”

Yuma Character Comparison

I don’t know about you guys, but my first impression of Yuma was “what a loser…” This is weird because the previous three characters who have starred on Yugioh have all been what the modern world calls “hard-ass”. I knew Yugi/Pharaoh would be a beast when I witnessed their epic millennium puzzle transformation. With Jaden, he looked a bit aloof at first sight, but one he dominated Dr. Crowler in the first episode, you could tell that he was a tough duelist. As for Yusei, you didn’t even have to watch him duel to know to see that he was a monster. His tough attitude and relentless spirit was enough evidence for me to conclude that he would be an unstoppable duelist. Yuma seems the polar opposite of all three of these characters.

Yuma seems to be like Jaden from the first half of the series: goofy, silly, and a loudmouth; only difference is Jaden could back up his words with his dueling while Yuma can’t. Yuma is also similar to Yugi in the sense that Yuma utilizes Astral, similar to how Yugi relied on Pharaoh. However, Yugi became a greater duelist even without Pharaoh’s help, and Yuma hasn’t been able to do that yet. Yuma’s differing qualities from his predecessors is one of the reason I have been following the show. I am keen to see how he will evolve as a character and how his relationship with Astral transforms as well.
